EDWARD A. TUNHEIM'S
FOREST MANAGEMENT PLAN
Prepared for The Bohemian Club in 2001 |
Ed Tunheim, a highly respected California
forester, managed the Bohemian Grove foresty operation for many
years before resigning over pressure from the Bohemian Club leadership
to increase the timber harvest level above a point Tunheim viewed
as appropriate.
Tunheim wrote the attached document in 2001. It is
important for several reasons: it demonstrates that the forested
acreage of the property is too large to qualify for an NTMP; it reveals
Tunheim's conviction that the annual cut should never exceed 500,000
board feet (the NTMP calls for an annual cut of 1.1 million to 1.8
million board feet); and finally, the Tunheim plan declares the Grove
in relatively good shape in terms of fire danger.
The Bohemian Club has always treated the Tunheim
Plan as secret and no one except the Board of Directors has had access
to it... until now.
